Ben Hartley BSc (Hons) Dip Surv MRICS
Director

Qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 2001, and formed Carterwood with Amanda in 2008. A grounding in the family property company, followed by a number of years in the healthcare team at GVA, provided Ben with the specialist background that Carterwood would need, particularly in relation to larger portfolio transactions.

Ben’s experience and focus on the specific consultancy and valuation work that Carterwood undertakes has helped the company become one of the leading providers of advice in relation to the care home, extra care and care village sectors.

Ben is often asked to act as an expert witness in relation to planning appeals, where his depth of technical knowledge provides particular insight.

In Ben's free time he enjoys cricket (admittedly watching these days) and spending time with his family. This includes making the most delicious Neapolitan pizza with his imported 00 Tipo flour from Naples for everyone to share.

Amanda Nurse BSc (Hons) MRICS
Director

Amanda has worked exclusively within the long-term care sector since she qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1992. She spent many years within the healthcare team of GVA before joining the corporate finance team at Hazlewoods.

Handling a diversity of client types and specialising in the sale and acquisition of operational elderly and specialist care homes provided her with the ideal background for the establishment of Carterwood.

Although Amanda has Director responsibility, her main focus is Carterwood’s agency division. Her in-depth knowledge of the market and her skill and experience in handling detailed negotiations has ensured steady growth and a growing reputation for the agency.

Amanda is known amongst her family and friends for being the only person to be in ski school after 10 skiing holidays, and for baking a mean Victoria sponge.
