Carterwood contribute to Barclays report; A sector transformed: Lessons for care homes from Covid-19

Carterwood are delighted to have contributed to Barclay’s recent report, which pays tribute to the remarkable resilience of the care sector over the past 18 months and explores many of the positive changes generated by the response to the pandemic.

Amanda Nurse, managing director at Carterwood, alongside other industry experts, shares her insight into the changing face of the care home sector and discusses how care homes can build on their pandemic response to shape a more diverse and viable sector.

Read the report to share Amanda’s insight into the innovations that could potentially increase care home viability, how partnerships were strengthened during the pandemic, how care homes might better configure for the future and discover the key areas with high shortfalls that could present opportunity for developers.

With occupancy not predicted to return to the pre-pandemic levels of 87% until May 2022, it is clear that the pandemic and its effects are still with us. However, this report reflects that the majority of care homes have changed for the better, from a connectivity, agility and knowledge perspective.

“Care staff and operators will undoubtedly need to draw further on that resilience in the challenging months to come. However, the reserves of creativity they have already shown will stand them in good stead.”

Steve Fergus, Head of healthcare, Barclays Corporate
