Ben Hartley

Co-founder

Role: As co-founder, Ben provides direction for the organisation, driving the organisation’s vision, mission, and purpose and continues to lead the ongoing development and innovation programme of new products and services, giving our clients the best available data in new, easier ways.

Background: Ben qualified as a chartered surveyor in 2001 and formed Carterwood with Amanda in 2008. A grounding in the family property company, followed by several years in the healthcare team of a national surveying practice, provided Ben with a specialist background in larger portfolio transactions.

Ben’s experience and focus on consultancy and valuation has helped build Carterwood into one of the leading providers of advice in relation to the care home, older people’s housing and care village sectors, with Ben as a leading provider of such advice.

Ben was responsible for the launch of Carterwood Analytics | Elderly Care Homes in 2019, and Carterwood Analytics | Retirement Living in 2021, our online platforms to assess elderly care home and retirement living markets.

Passion: In Ben's free time, he enjoys playing music and spending time with his family (before his kids grow up too much and fly off ) and visiting interesting places.

Three words to describe Carterwood: Innovative, focused, fun.

Favourite Carterwood value: Never stand still. “The company was founded on the basis that if we create and refine amazing new products and services the competition becomes less relevant and the business can focus on adding more value for our clients. Innovation and creative problem-solving have underpinned the success of the business since it began and if you are not going forwards then you are going backwards – Carterwood never stand still.”
